description:

Jackson County Streams layer is derived from Oregon Department of Forestry Hydrography Flowline (May 09, 2025 update) data, which is developed from best available digital elevation models from 2m LiDAR and the 10m National Elevation Dataset. For more information regarding the ODF dataset please see ODF"s ArcGIS Hub - Hydrography Flow Line | ODF ArcGIS Hub. The statewide data is reduced to the Jackson County boundary and is edited, both in geometry and attributes, to meet the County’s needs.

The Jackson County Planning Class (JCclass) field is added to the Streams layer. This field reflects Jackson County’s Stream Classifications, as defined in Chapter 13 of the 2004 Land Development Ordinance and in Section 16 of the 1989 Jackson County Comprehensive Plan. The Stream Classifications are aligned with Statewide Planning Goal 5 and with OAR 660-023-0090. Furthermore, the Stream Classifications are not related to a typical hydrologic class or type, but exclusively the land-use planning designation.

Class 1 attributes (JCclass field) are applied to the new Streams flowlines to match the previously approved Class1 flowlines’ geometry. The archived Streams and Irrigation Canals data can be found here - CountyStreams - Overview

Class 2 attributes are applied to the new Streams flowlines using a series of select-by-location processes, involving Class 2 flowlines from Original Streams & Irrigation Canals and USGS 3DHP flowlines, then afterwards a careful and arduous systematic review of Class 2 flowlines results. During the review, geometry and attribute edits were made to better reflect the location and Class 2 designation.

Perfect geometry and attributes are unlikely given the complexity of the situation however significant and continuous efforts are made to review and improve the flowlines and attributes with best available GIS data and tools. For step-by-step processing of the Streams flowlines, please contact Jackson County GIS.

licenseInfo:
The Streams flowlines are derived from hi-resolution LiDAR data where available, which does often provide improved location accuracy, and is a significant improvement over the previous version however, errors may still be seen in the flowline location. Please use discretion.
